The Museum displays permanent and temporary exhibits on maritime history, commerce and exploration and stages popular public events such as 'Movies Before the Mast' and family sleepovers on the Star of India. Thousands of school children from throughout Southern California visit the museum each year for a variety of dockside and at-sea educational programs.
If you become an annual member you're registered to possibly be picked as a guest when they sail The Star of India once a year.

They always have the best exhibits and art work. Right now they have Gauguin which has been all over the world. It is just wonderful..... I think they are the best kept secret in San Diego. This secret needs to be let out of the bag. They are great!!!!

Any place that Mike Row (sp?) says canbe a "Dirty Job" to work at and have an overnight school program for elementary kids is the GREATEST

Plan for the Day - there are lots of things to see and do. Use your time wisely and you can get through all the ships, have a great lunch or dinner on the Embarcadero, get a ride around the bay on the Pilot Boat and end up on the Surprise to watch the sunset and close out your day! Sometimes there are Cruise Ships that leave at Dusk and the Stern of the Surprise is the best place to watch them depart.
