To the AWARD WINNING caterer ABBEY CATERING & EVENT DESIGN CO, I would be honored to describe my love story for you in consideration of your giveaway. My partner and I met in college in Illinois. From France, it was my man's DREAM to move to America to experience our culture and learn English fluently. Little did he know, after signing up for American college, he was getting more than he bargained for! ;) From the day we met (at a study abroad fair at school), we felt a deep connection and love for each other. We shared the very best times together and also the lowest of lows and we eventually 'came-out' together to our families and friends. As the youngest child of a deeply religious Catholic upbringing, it was the hardest and most relieving experience to endure but it changed both of our lives forever. With so much on our 'plates' emotionally, we needed time apart to discover ourselves and blossom as individual human beings. Nearly 2 years separated (he moved to NYC and I moved to San Diego) in what we call our 'universal time-out' we maintained a friendship and stayed connected. Eventually, it was just natural timing and we patched up our history and decided to give our relationship another shot. Today, we both live together in a cozy apartment in Astoria, NY with our tabby cat, Tiger. Last Thanksgiving, I brought my partner back to the very same room that we met in college, knelt down, and proposed. Now engaged and officially 'domestic partners' we look forward to officially getting married after the turn over of DOMA! For us, this is a completely emotional happening and will allow us to federally declare our love and also instill a sense of comfort in knowing that my French husband will not be 'walking on eggshells' anymore with visas and immigration paperwork (which causes SO much unnecessary stress frequently). We are so blessed to be alive at this time in history!! As for the rest, we visit San Diego often to de-stress from the craziness of NYC. JP is now a French professor at NYU and just started his own company called JPLinguistics. As for me, I'm just the luckiest man on Earth to have my man, Jean-Philippe by my side everyday!
