My wife and I visited the Roynon yesterday. We went in the afternoon and had time to examine each of the displays without any distractions. We were bowled-over by the quality of the fossil specimens. Better ammonites (like a nautilus) than we had seen anywhere else. More and better fossilized dinosaur eggs than anywhere else.
It's an extraordinary collection of minerals and fossils. The Roynon hosts school class visits in the mornings and I can't imagine a better introduction to geology and paleontology. The kids prepare their own specimen boxes and take them home as a nice recollection of their visit.
We were joined during our visit by Keith Roynon, the man behind the collection. He was most welcoming, gracious, and generous with his time. He described some of the challenges he overcame in amassing this surprisingly large array of amazing specimens.
I recommend the Roynon to all. Call ahead of time to get information that will make parking easier.
